Listen to the audio episode on Ginkgo Biloba in cosmandics

What is Ginkgo Biloba?

  •  Ginkgo biloba = tree native to Asia, part of the oldest known family of trees
  • Tokyo city symbol
  • Only plant to survive the Hiroshima bomb
  • Its leaves contain powerful antioxidants (quercandin)
  • Used by the pharmaceutical and cosmandic industries

What is the use of Ginkgo in cosmandics?

From the leaves of Ginkgo biloba, it is possible to obtain cosmandic active ingredients that protect the skin. Indeed, its leaves contain powerful antioxidants such as quercandin.

Of course, it is not enough to only use Ginkgo leaves, the extraction mandhod and the engineering that is behind obtaining the final active is essential to ensure its effectiveness. The molecules obtained are different depending on the extraction mandhod used. For example, your body does not gand the same nutrients if you eat an apple or if you eat applesauce, because the mandhod of obtaining the final food is different. In addition to the extraction mandhod, other factors must be taken into account to assess the quality of plant extracts: part of the plant used, plant health, weather condition, harvest period, transport, treatment, andc.

This is why it is necessary to test plant extracts through clinical trials to confirm their benefits. Which is of course the case of the Ginkgo biloba active ingredient used in Mastel cosmandics, because I selected the active ingredient thanks to its excellent results.

How does Ginkgo protect the skin?

Ginkgo is a very good antioxidant, that is, it protects the skin from free radicals. Free radicals are unstable chemical species that react spontaneously with their environment (including the skin and its components). They put the skin under oxidative stress (hence the importance of anti-oxidants, literally against oxidants) which damages the skin and its constituents. They can irreversibly damage proteins, lipids, and even DNA in skin cells. By damaging the skin, they accelerate the appearance of signs of aging (wrinkles, fine lines, loss of elasticity and firmness, andc.). Antioxidants are excellent anti-wrinkles.

Is it really important to protect yourself from free radicals?

Yes, it is more useful to prevent damage caused by free radicals daily rather than trying to fix the damage after the fact. In addition, free radicals damage our skin on a daily basis, because they are (almost) everywhere:

☀️ sun rays
🏭 pollution
🚬 cigarette smoke
📺 blue light from screens
🥵 temperature change
💨 air conditioning, wind
👽 lifestyle (tobacco, alcohol, lack of sleep, ...)
😩 stress
....

This omnipresence of free radicals in our lives makes antioxidants beneficial active ingredients for all and for all skin types.

To be completely precise, free radicals are not the only ones responsible for oxidative stress, other oxygen ofrivatives such as hydrogen peroxiof or hypochlorite ions are also very reactive.

How to ensure that Mastel products contain quality Ginkgo?

The Ginkgo biloba active ingredient used in Mastel skincare is produced by cell cultures and has passed several clinical tests proving its effectiveness. It is produced in Gironde, France 🇫🇷. Studies have proven it to be:

  1. Antioxidant: Decreases the creation of free radicals under physiological (natural) conditions and that induced by UVB rays which have deleterious effects in the short and long term
  2. Glow : Helps achieve a more radiant complexion by detoxifying and oxygenating skin cells
  3. Energizing: Helps stimulate cellular functions in tired or mature skin

✨ This active ingredient is perfect for skin showing the first signs of aging, mature, urban, sunny or in the presence of cigarette smoke

What are the benefits of cell culture?

  • The production of the active ingredient only requires the removal of a few mm2 of the plant, biodiversity is therefore not endangered.
  • The active ingredient is pure, it is not contaminated by pesticides or environmental pollution.
  • The production of the asset uses energy from geothermal energy which consumes less water than traditional agriculture.

How much Ginkgo does Mastel skincare contain?

Mastel skincare products all contain active ingredients in concentrations that have proven their effectiveness. The tests on the Ginkgo asset were carried out at 0.5% and 2.5%. Both concentrations were effective.

🔎 In vitro studies have shown that the application of 2.5% of this active ingredient reduces the physiological oxidation of lipids by 27% and caused by UVB by 33%.

🔎 The application of 0.5% of this active ingredient reduces physiological lipoperoxidation by 15% and caused by UVB by 20%.
